Ramón Martínez

A native of Malaga, he began his career in that city, where he graduated with honours from the Conservatorio Superior de Danza Española. Among his teachers are great figures, such as Matilde Coral, Manolo Marín and Eva la Yerbabuena.

Throughout his long career he has received prestigious awards, most notably those obtained at the Concurso de Baile de la Peña Flamenca Torre del Cante in 1992, at the Concurso Nacional de La Perla de Cádiz in 2003 and the Dora Mayor Award in 2007 (Toronto).

This young dancer has been part of the Andalusian Dance Company, with which he has taken his own performances to different countries around the world. At the same time, he has shared the stage with artists such as María Pagés, Cristina Hoyos and Paco Peña. With the latter, he toured with his show “A compás” The first of these, which also led him to perform in theatres such as the Peacock in London, the Sydney Opera House and Town Hall on Broadway.

Later, he toured the USA with the show “Flamenco Vivo” and participated in the Bienal de Sevilla, collaborating with the famous Manuel de Paula in “AnCa’Paula”. Also locally, he has presented “Desplumados” at the Sala Fli in Seville and “Canbagui” in the cycle Los Jueves Flamencos de Cajasol in the same city. With all this, this tireless creator has been a great success with critics and public.

Currently, as well as touring important stages, he trains artists in Alicia Márquez’s flamenco studio.
