Juan José Ortega

Juan José Ortega begun his career in flamenco when he was only 6 years old, under the wings of José Joaquín Navarro in the Candela school of flamenco. He changed school as he grew, following Úrsula López and her FlamencoDanza Estudio in 2015, where he studied ballet, traditional spanish dancing and flamenco.

Two years later he began his graduate degree in flamenco at the Antonio Ruiz Soler Conservatory, from where he graduated in june 2020. That same year Juan José became one the finalists in Manolo Soler’s dancing contest, which awarded him with a scholarship to keep studying in Cristina Heeren’s  Fundación de Arte y Flamenco.

He kept on studying flamenco between the years 2022 and 2024 when he joined the Estudio de Formación de Arte y Danza in Granada, along with private lessons with different flamenco masters such as Milagros Menjíbar, Javier Barón, Andrés Marín or Manuel Liñán among many others. It is also worth mentioning that he has worked as a professional flamenco dancer in both tablaos and peñas all along Spain, as well as following the Cristina Heeren Foundation, the Granada Ballet of Flamenco, the EFAD and even the Compañía de Danza Española in tours around the world.

Juan José has alwo won many awards, such as first prize in the Group Choreography award in the Certamen de Coreografía de Danza Española and Flamenco in Madrid and first prize Certamen de Coreografía de Danza Española con argumento Distrito Latino in Madrid with the show ALHAMA and the EFAD.

Nowadays he combines his work at La Casa del Flamenco with being a teacher at the Cristina Heeren Foundation.
