Juan Fernández

He was born in Cadiz, where he began his studies of flamenco and classical Spanish at the Paco del Puerto School in the city of Cadiz. Later he continued his training in Jerez de la Frontera with teachers like Antonio “El Pipa”, and in Seville with Manolo Marín, Eva Yerbabuena, “El Junco”, and Andrés Marín, among others.

Throughout his artistic career he has been part of many companies with which he has toured around the world; like Charo Cruz’s company, Chiqui de Jerez’s company, Ballet Flamenco de Madrid, etc.

In 2009 he won second prize in the competition of the Federation of Peñas of Seville for Young Flamenco Values. That same year he joined Carlos Carbonell’s company, with the show “Acompasados”, presented at the Festival de Jerez.

In 2011 he wins the first prize in the Concurso Nacional por Alegrías de la Perla de Cádiz, and the second prize in the Concurso Aniya la Gitana de Ronda.

In 2014, he wins the first prize in the Flamenco Cuidad de Ubrique contest, thus participating in the La Piel (Ubrique) Flamenco Festival. In 2015 he is proclaimed the winner of the “Villa de Guillena” Flamenco Competition, thanks to which he will share the bill with the cantaores: Argentina and Vicente Soto “Sordera” in the Guillena Bulería Festival.
