Álvaro Aguilera

Álvaro Aguilera was born in Cádiz, Andalucía, and began his studies in flamenco as soon as he could enter the Conservatorio Profesional de Danza “Maribel Gallardo”, where he graduated in Flamenco Dancing after winning several prizes in different contests, such as his first prize in the Concurso de Baile Flamenco de Paterna de Rivera.

After his graduation and his rise in popularity in Cádiz, he started his international career as a dancer for the international music festival of Montoire-Sur-Le-Loir in France as well as for the international folclore festival of Viana do Castelo in Portugal, which cemented his love for flamenco ballet.

To further his education he moved to Madrid to study in the Conservatorio Superior de Danza “María de Ávila”, where, after finishing his studies, stayed for a while to become a soloist dancer for the Madrid Ballet of Flamenco.

Always wanting to improve his art, Álvaro has studied with great artists within flamenco, such as María Moreno, David Paniagua, Rafaela Carrasco, Farruquito or Olga Pericet. He has always wanted to prove himself in different national contests, like the Fuego Flamenco prize in the Teatro Festival GALA Washington DC in the Certamen Coreográfico de Danza Española and Flamenco, Madrid, with “La Musa Imperfecta”; as well as international contests, such as his first prize in dancing in the style “alegría” with “La Perla de Cádiz”.

His great trajectory has taken him to work internationally as well, in the intrnational folclore festival in Alto Minho, Portugal, or the spanish music festival in Canterbury, London. He has now returned to Spain and works as a dancer in the Flamenco Ballet of Andalucía and in several tablaos here in Seville, Cádiz, Málaga, Madrid and Barcelona.
