Daniel Mejía

Daniel Mejía is a Mexican flamenco guitarist born in 1997. He began his musical training as a self-taught guitarist in Mexico City, where he accompanied several flamenco dancers, including Ricardo Rubio, Marién Luévano, and Armando Tovar, performing with the Interflamenca Company and the Hojas de Té Center for Flamenco and Artistic Experimentation.

In 2017, he moved to Spain to further develop his flamenco guitar technique. There, he studied with renowned guitarist José Jiménez “El Viejín” and continued his training at the Cañorroto “El Entri” Academy and the Casa Patas Flamenco Conservatory Foundation in Madrid. He later settled in Seville to study at the Cristina Heeren Foundation, where he was awarded a Prácticum scholarship in 2018. That same year, he began his higher education at the Rafael Orozco Conservatory of Music in Córdoba, graduating in 2023.

Throughout his career, Daniel has built an extensive professional background as an accompanying guitarist, performing in prestigious flamenco venues, peñas, and festivals across southern Spain. He has worked in renowned tablaos such as Los Gallos, La Casa del Flamenco, La Cantaora, Casa Ana, and Alegría, and has appeared at festivals including Estren-Arte (Murcia), Bormujos, and Bellavista. He has also collaborated with flamenco dancer Soraya Clavijo and continues to work with dancer Pablo Egea, accompanying the productions From Veracruz to Cartagena, Round Trip (Ida y Vuelta), and Paspeng Ila. In addition, he has participated as an accompanying guitarist in international workshops, including the Bolzano Danza Workshop in Italy.

Alongside his work as an accompanist, Daniel has developed a career as a solo performer. He has appeared at the Córdoba Guitar Festival and the Trasteando concert series held at the Posada del Potro in Córdoba. His artistic achievements have also been recognized in prestigious competitions, where he was a finalist in the National Art Competition of Córdoba and a semifinalist in the International Cante de las Minas Competition.
