Laura was born among artists, training since she was very young with renowned performers such as Matilde Coral, Israel Galv\u00e1n, Milagros Meng\u00edbar, Rafael Campallo, or Farruquillo among others.<\/p>\n
Laura has several awards endorsing her career, such as first prize at \u201cJ\u00f3venes Flamencos de Calasparra\u201d, third prize for \u201calegr\u00edas\u201d at the \u201cLa Perla de C\u00e1diz\u201d contest, second prize from the\u201cFederaci\u00f3n de Pe\u00f1as flamencas de Sevilla\u201d, and second prize at \u201cConcurso Nacional de Ubrique\u201d.<\/p>\n
Along her professional career she has been a part of Andr\u00e9s Pe\u00f1a and Pilar Ogalla\u2019s company; as well as a member of Ballet Flamenco de Andaluc\u00eda, under Rafaela Carrasco\u2019s leadership. Laura has performed in \u201cLa Memoria del Cante 1922\u201d; Im\u00e1genes, which was awarded with the \u201cGiraldillo\u201d at the XVII Bienal de Flamenco for best performance; and Tierra-Lorca cancionero popular, whose dance ensemble received its own \u201cGiraldillo\u201d at the XIX Bienal de Flamenco after the jury petitioned for it.<\/p>\n
Laura Santamar\u00eda has now created a company of her own, with which she tours within Spain as well as internationally. She is otherwise very well known for her instructor roles at the school \u201cEstudio Flamenco\u201d and Cristina Heeren\u2019s foundation.<\/p>\n
Her characteristic style showcases her proficiency with the \u201cbata de cola\u201d and castanets, so typical of the Sevillian discipline.
